BIO'S
MIKE BREWER (GUITAR, VOCALS) Born
Oct. 19, 1952
As a session player, Mike has recorded
with some of the truly heavy hitters in
the music business, such as BOOKER T.
JONES, DAVID FOSTER, LEE RITENOUR, HAL
BLAINE, and the ELTON JOHN BAND"S rhythm
section NIGEL OLSON and DEE MURRAY".
As a
writer, he scored a major coup by having
his song "FEELING I GET" featured in the
Oscar / Golden Globe Award winning movie
"LOST IN TRANSLATION" starring Bill
Murray and Scarlet Johansson".in live
performance he"s best known for his
years with the underground cult
phenomenon, the psychedelic MARY
BUTTERWORTH BAND who"s sole album became
such a massively bootlegged hit all over
Europe that the original vinyl version
that came out in limited edition in the
US in 1969 now routinely sells on ebay
(if you can even find one, that is) for
as much as $1,000.00""but in addition to
MARY BUTTERWORTH, he"s performed with
such heavyweights as blues superstar
CURTIS SALGADO, CANNED HEAT legend HENRY
VESTINE, VENTURES Guitarist NOKIE
EDWARDS as well as dozens more.
PETE "THE BEAT" BURGER (DRUMS) Born May
16, 1964
In 1968 Pete traveled across the country
and found himself living on Haight
Street in San Francisco right at the
apex of The Summer Of Love".
His family
moved back east in 1969 just in time for
Pete to attend The Woodstock festival on
Max Yazgur"s farm"..as they settled in
to the new Woodstock digs, Pete began to
hang out with the local music legends
and found himself sitting in with folks
like RICK DANKO of THE BAND and JORMA
KAUKONEN of HOT TUNA"" But by the 80"s
he was playing in big arenas with rock
legends like CHUCK BERRY and THE
COASTERS". For the next few years
he threw himself into the blues, touring
with great blues artists like JAMES
COTTON, HUBERT SUMLIN, and MARK HUMMEL
just to name a few". Once he had moved to
Eugene however, he began playing with
more "left coast" artists like SAM
ANDREW of BIG BROTHER AND THE HOLDING
CO., HENRY VESTINE of CANNED HEAT, NOKIE
EDWARDS of THE VENTURES, and BRIAN
SETZER of THE STRAY CATS". He soon hooked
up with THE PRANKSTERS, and found
himself playing drums for KEN KESEY in
his namesake band "THE COOLAID TESTERS",
as well as with the next generation of
pranksters in local bands like LOST
CREEK, THE REVELATORS, and FRAGILE
THUNDER.
RUSS WHITLATCH (BASS) Born Sept.
9, 1955
Russ started playing bass in 1974. He
did the school stage band scene as so
many aspiring musicians did as well as
joining many bands in his early years.
He furthered his musical talents by
studying music theory with the famed
percussionist and writer CHARLES DOWD. A
few years later as a touring musician,
Russ would be sharing the stage with
such artists as ELVIN BISHOP, COMMANDER
CODY, MARIA MULDAUR, THE AMAZING RHYTHM
ACES and even the great MERLE HAGGARD.
Russ did plenty of professional
recording at the Gung Ho studios as part
of the in-house rhythm section recording
many styles of music backing a variety
of different artists. His style of
playing and friendly personality are a
perfect addition to the BREWKETTS TRIO.
